Finally doing some Digital work.

More like, taking the time to do it. Since I spend a majority of my time on Netflix, I actually did a drawing of something I was watching,

This turned out to be a really good warm up, so I think I will continue to try and do that more in the future. I know that the best why to do comics is on the computer, and the whole reason I have a Cintiq is to make the work faster. I'm slowly getting accustomed to its ways, but pen and ink is still the favorite. That being said, alot of really great doodles have been happening thanks to so many wonderful inspirational books. My boyfriend and I are playing Rifts (Like Dungeons and Dragons, but with LAZORZ)with our mutual friends, one of which is Jared. We have known Jared since high school, and he was nice enough to give me to World of Warcraft artbooks. These were both really beautiful, and got me into fantasy shit again.

It isn't completed as of yet, but I'm happy with how it's coming along anyway. The other thing I've been trying to work on is doodling my original characters as much as I can, so I have visual notes for the plot. That has proven to be the most fun with Jerkwater Drones.

I made this delightful little piece the other day, full of little bits of plot that are either minor or major, like the fact that April is the Senator's daughter, and that her hair is naturally platinum blonde. Or the fact that Larissa things that she's cute, until she starts simpering like a little bitch baby. And if you were wondering what a bitch baby looks like...American McGee's Alice covered it in the sequel.

Or the fact that Charlotte is the toughest character emotionally, but is also the first to get bitten, forcing Ana to step up as baddest bitch. Someday this comic will make it to paper for good! Until then, doots continue.

making work stuff!

I was recently asked to work at home to do some new signs for the Trader Joe's I work for. San Francisco is a general theme in the local stores, so I wanted to make it a little more special. The first one is a wave in a Japanese style, both for the ocean, and for Japantown.The second is the mascot of the Doggie Diner. It's a huge floating bust on Sloat Boulevard.

The third is a seal on a rock, for the Seal Rock Inn up on Geary Boulevard, within walking distance of the famous Cliffhouse. And finally, there's the crab from the Fisherman's Wharf sign.

All together, they turned out pretty damn fantastic.

I may need to retool the Doggie Diner ones, simply because you can't see his head! I may alter it to go on the long part of the signs instead. Pretty fun though! It's the first time I've been paid to work at home. The place where my uniform is undies and nail polish.

APE 2012

Well, after a fun long weekend, we had to say goodbye to the Alternative Press Expo. All together, it was a wonderful experience, filled with information, inspiration, and incredible artists. It is the first of many more shows to come, I'm sure!

I'm following so many wonderful artists now, and I hope that I'll actually get to hang out with them soon!

Alternative Press Expo Originals

So, I will be selling quite a few originals at the Alternative Press Expo. Among them are some pin ups of my favorite Batman females. I am a huge fan of the 90s Batman animated series, so I thought it would be fitting that I paid homage to it. I did stick with Catwoman's newer styled suit, but for Harley Quin and Batgirl, I kept pretty consistent. The originals are framed, and a special LARGE Pamela Isley is in the works right now, to round off the set, but it has really been an adventure to create them, and I'm excited to see how they sell. I will be selling prints of them too, and I'm not sure of the price just yet. I think for prints, I'm gonna ask for about 20 bucks. I think the prints may end up being bigger too. We shall see!

Papercrafting my butt off!

As we approach October and The Alternative Press Expo, I have been struggling to come up with things that people will like or want. I can only hope that papercrafting will be a good way to get some recognition, and a few followers. The progress of a papercraft is still amazing, and I really love being able to make posts from my phone about them! If you have questions about my process, or pricing, leave a comment for me!

Fanart I'm ashamed of.

Sometimes you just like a show for one character. It happens. Asuka is that character for me. Neon Genesis Evangelion is not my favorite thing. The ending sucked, the main character is by all rights a pant-shitter, my list goes on and on.

But that doesn't mean I can't do a cute pin up of one of the few decent characters from that show. I know this is my first post here in a long time, but that is because tumblr is taking over my life slowly. You can follow me on my tumblr if you like.

The groove has returned.

I haven't been feeling like working on art as of late. I am glad that it has passed! I worked on this piece AGES ago when I was trying to do a chapter end piece for the first segment of XL Gal. Abby and Tabby, being frienemies. It is unfinished because backgrounds are hard and dumb, but I will get there.

All of a sudden, Ryoko.

Again with the fanart, I know. But hey, it keeps me sharp, and it's fun to do! I used some reference for the colors of Ryoko's basic outfit, and applied them in a more hipster fashion. I am pleased with the outcome. I still say that Tenchi Muyo would have been SOOO much better WITHOUT Tenshi.

I wear a small silver band on my left ring finger. I started doing this when a creepy guy kept hitting on me and following me in school last semester. I got used to it, and frankly, it's kinda nostalgic for me. When I dated my boyfriend in high school, I had a ring to signify I was taken. I keep it on now as a reminder of that because I'm a huge stupid girl about it. Anyway, now that you know why I wear it, this comic will make sense.

Fanart funtimes!

I am so excited for the relaunch of the Sailor Moon animated series you guys. I'm not proud of it. But good lord. It's my childhood. It's the show that got me into drawing people. The first show that made me realize that girls can kick some SERIOUS ass. Which brings me to my doodle I did today, with more to follow soon. I have drawn Makoto Kino, or as I have always known her, Lita. Sailor Jupiter was the one I looked the most like as a little girl, not to mention we shared similar traits. I enjoyed cooking, and I was picked on in school, but I was so strong that the kids ran from me. Lita is my blood brother. I know her FEEL, man. <-- Ruth gets full credit for introducing me to this bit of ebonics. I always thought Lita was a badass. In the manga, she smokes regularly. I always imagined her being the leader of a biker gang. She is also the most likely to have skull tattoo.

Jean Paul Gaultier exhibit!!?!

My best buddy Ruth and I went to the Gaultier exhibit at the De Young Museum. It was the coolest exhibit set up I've ever had the pleasure of walking through. The first room was full of figures that had their faces projected on them like the gypsy fortune teller in the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland. Not to mention he has dresses that were inspired by mermaids. I am actually in the process of drawing that one. I was really happy that cameras got the green light. Now that I have a smart phone, I'll be able to take better quality pictures, especially of his S&M lines of clothing. Yes, it is as HOT as it sounds! I did a few doodles though, that are finished. The first one is actually in the first room, and the second is almost all the way through. I will be the first to admit they are "inspired by" drawings at best, since I haven't been back to properly study the dresses. I do plan to do that, but for now, just enjoy the debauchery that is my drawing.

The ape preparation has begun.

I realize that APE is gonna creep up on me if I'm not careful, so I have started reviewing my XtraLarge Gal pages again. I think I have finally settled on her costume design, so it is less offensive and not as unflattering. I spent some time today, after doodling an Awful Times comic (that I will post later), I did so doodles of the new costume, and drawing style. I may just do it all traditionally inked. I really like the look and feel. I just don't have the experience with photoshop to do it in a way that I like it. That is fine, and the first story will be easy to redo In this way, so I am at least excited about that.

The cosplay continues with yours truly as Black Widow. There really isn't much more to say. This is totally stress relief drawing!

I am having so much fun drawing my boyfriend. It's a problem. But at least this one is awesome. I think a themed draw is gonna have to happen. Next? Me as Black Widow!

So, as part of my warm-up today, I drew my friends Amy and Ruth as Maid Marian and Aurora. I really enjoy the approach I took with these doodles because they are very different from my normal works. I am doing my best to paint in photoshop more to improve my digital coloring skills. It's a good start! Before I did this drawing today, I did something awful. If I get permission to post it, I will.

Alan Wake!

So somehow the best video game in YEARS slipped under my radar until my boyfriend put it in my hands. It's Supernatural, Silent Hill, Stephen King, and a Del Toro creep factor all in one! I love it. I doodled a thank you, but it's also that I just really enjoy drawing my silly boyfriend. Moral of Alan Wake: Flashlights are your friends.

Had some fun today drawing my boyfriend and his cat! I really love the moment I managed to capture here! He just LOVES that cat. He is growing on me to. So furry. I'm talking about my boyfriend. I love cats naturally.

The Anime Pokemon Project!

It's time to reveal my first piece. Thanks to facebook, I was able gather some great ideas for anime characters from my friends, then the fun begins. Pairing them with their perfect pokemon. Lum from Urusei Yatsura was one of the suggests I really liked, since I enjoy Ranma 1/2 so much. It was a little before my time, but I have seen a bit of the show, and the manga. Picking her pokemon was easy, since I've opened the door for shiny pokemon. A shiny Growlithe is actually yellow. I love all dog pokemon. Anyway, perfect color to match Lum. I realized when I finished that this is a little dark, since It may mean that Shiny Growlithes or Arcanines were killed to make Lum's suit. Thankfully the stripes on both evolutions of pokemon are too wide,so I think we are in the clear. =end nerd explanation= Anyway, the finished work turned out pretty damn adorable. I use the royal we, since I am the QUEEN of procrastination. Sorry for the long delay on new stuff, for those of you who care to follow me on this endeavor. We will start with my favorite warm-ups. FANART. We will start with one of my favorite characters from Game of Thrones. He really does have some pretty fantastic hair. Thanks to going to Fanime, quite a few drawings from my childhood emerged. First, I got it in my head to join the pretty soldiers in their adolescence. Then I thought, summer camp. Then this drawing happened. Then, thanks to Adventure Time fanart in artist alley, This drawing happened. Then I thought about the only harem anime I liked. For those who are not aware of what that means, it is pretty self explanatory. It's an anime with one guy, SURROUNDED by girls who are wanting to be his one and only. It's usually really sexist and annoying. Ranma 1/2 is full of strong females, so it's not AS painful. And! He is technically a strong female half of the time anyway. Then, thanks to Diablo 3, this happened. I thought about being a demon hunter. If you play table top games, it's the closest class to a rogue. I just thought it would be funny to draw the female huntress shunning creatures that were not demons. This one is actually just for "grins and giggles". My boyfriend hates Adventure Time. He was almost perfect. I had no choice but to draw him in the style, and finally came up with a place for myself in the land of Ooo. A soda genie. I will have to take the time and do this drawing again on Photoshoppe, so it looks more fluid with the show art. I hope that makes up for at least some of my absence, and I will try to have more out soon!

I'm not dead!

Had a bit of a lapse in art the last few days. I did some pretty cool stuff with white pen. Trying hard to draw with color in mind, as opposed to line.

Also, working on my WEBSITE is taking alot of time away from me. I did do the 404 drawing! WOO!

And can I just say, I love love love that blogger is not putting uploaded pictures at the top of my entry! I am so excited to not have to copy/paste them into the right places. I just can't believe that something changed and I actually liked it. I feel like I should throw a party or something.

Trying out new styles!

I've been watching cartoons like they are going out of style lately! My Little Pony is one of my favorites, because I love anything that Lauren Faust touches! That being said, I thought, what if I make one of the most amazing anime characters ever in that Fausty style?

A blast from the past

Finally had a chance to go through all my files and sort. After doing the work on my parents filing cabinet, it was honestly really simple. I dug up some old comic stuff I did for Paperlinks.org back in the day, and found a piece that I actually still liked alot! This was from my Enuma Elish comic I did about Babylonian creation stories.

This is the little girl from that story, imagining what the great goddess Tiamat's army would be like.
