Projects on hold.

WELL. I missed this week's post for the Paperlinks project, but that just means I'll have to double post next week, on Tuesday!

Check out the other posts!

I have been a busy bee though! I'm in the process of making 2 papercrafts, so that's really fun! They are really cool sizes, and are proving to be real pains in the ass, but I'm enjoying them greatly!

Over the past week, I had Amy with me for like...6 days. We watched Hoarders and I cleaned my apartment HARDCORE. In doing so, I got a great idea for the Umbra frames I had laying around.

I used the drawings I posted before, and I painstakingly x-actoed them out!

DOUBLE POST.

So, I got some new indie ink stuff! Watercolor paper, inks, watercolors, the works! SO I finally had a chance to play with that. WOOOP. I decided to have fun and draw whatever came to mind.

And then today was the start of a new monthly project Amy suggested!! 30 days of drawing your original characters. It's amazing how many of them you can create. So I'm going to start this shit off with a character from the comic Amy and I are doing!
Colienne

Colienne was created as the female protagonist in the collaborative comic, Jebediah. She was lured by her brother into the wilderness, where she was attacked by a cougar and left to die. She survived it, but lost everything important to her because of the incident. Now that her past has caught up with her, she must face her brother, and let her life truly begin.

Ruth is going to be doing this, as well as Amy, and Breena. We will update Paperlinks weekly with our works, or you can continue to check them out here on the blogs as the days go by!

art dump 6

Haha, this was fun. My coworker Tesha and I were talking about Halloween when I first starting working with her 2 years ago.

I've learned since then that I can perform the PERFECT Ursula laugh, so I may have to redraw this image properly.

This was for my old comic Mug. It was a wordless comic about a wolf cub that had jut jaw. He would eventually hook up with a Doberman. LOOK AT THEIR LITTLE FACES.

MORE OF MY MONSTER GIRLS! I did Genie a long time ago, and I don't honestly remember if it was ever posted here. I'll repost it just so you can see the difference between the old one, and the new one.

YAY PROCESS POST.
So, I spend alot of time redoing artwork. This character of mine has been through SO MUCH CHANGE. She would have schizophrenia if she was a real person. Anyway, this is the linework.

And the colored version.

THIS ONE TIME. AN OWLSTRICH.

Time to mega post and make up for DAYS of not posting. I won't lie, alot of what's going up today is work in progress stuff, but it's been a very busy week, full of fail. For the 11 of you that watch me, thanks for being so patient!

Without further ado, this is Suri.

Suri is a demon with hands that come together to make a tarantula. I got the idea rereading Parasite Eve and playing WAAAAAY too much Dead Space. I think she's pretty damn cool.

work of the day!

I did two things today, if you can believe it! I did a dapper snake enjoying tea time,

and Edward from Full Metal Alchemist in the style of Jim Hawkins from Treasure Planet. It really seemed to fit nicely. Same body structure, and almost same attitude.

Man, I'm going to make 100 posts in no time with this once a day blog nonsense!

Jebediah!?

I decided today's doodle would be for the comic that Amy and I are working on. It is so fun to say, "HELL WITH THE BACKGROUND", but I sure do go for that approach too often. I think the next post may have to be a background study. YAY EXCUSE TO WATCH WESTERNS!

Anyway, here are James and Colienne, being adorable together.

This happened today. I didn't forget AMY. <3

The interviews.

I'm going to start doing interviews for Paperlinks, so I decided to draw a self portrait icon for the banner! I will call them Paperviews. Like Pay Per View. Yes it's cute. You know you love it. Hopefully I'll be able to get some really good questions together to ask! Stay tuned to Paperlinks for more detail. Ruth has brought more culture with her museum visit post! Check it out!

MONSTER GIRLS.

YES. I'm still working on my monster girl prints. Took WAY too long a break from that. Here's the progress on the Yeti girl! I'm enjoying her!
I've decided to use Sai again, since I get pretty good color out of it, and just do accents and gouache brushes in Photoshop.

So far, so good!

A month of blog fodder...

is SO not going to be easy or fun. Amy and I have decided to really push ourselves artistically, and have something to post in the blog every day. I'm going to use commission style works for this post!

A little while ago, I drew a bunch of little drawings for the Customer Servants blog background. It was really cute, and I thought it would be cool to make a bunch another set of tiny drawings. This time, it would be something a little more organic.

I showed my mother, and of course, she wanted me to do bigger ones for our dining room area. Ok, fine. I'm not like...against drawing adorable fruit, and I got to work in watercolor, which I need more practice with anyway, especially mixing colors, and blending. I may *GASP* read a chapter in a book about it. I hear that people really can LEARN from those things. Anyway, it was a really fun little side project, and I finally had use for those 3x5 watercolor postcards.

The frames are definitely my favorite part. Since my mom has a bunch of kitchy Mexican crap, like a creepy Diego Rivera print, I was thrilled to find frames that looked very missiony. Nice hinges attached with teeny rivets really work with it.

The last thing is "PROFOLIO FODDER", really. I had to do a charicature of my boss, and...I did a pretty good job! I had alot of fun making his itty bitty little body. It was TOTES my favorite part.

And that has been what I've been up to in the past few days. The rest of this month will be about art made same day...HOPEFULLY, but at the very least, it will be a cataloged progression of works.

The big Seven Oh.

70 blog posts. Jesus, that's incredible. I can't even remember to write down my schedule all the time, let alone keep journals or take notes. It really does seem like eons ago since I first posted her in blogbert.
That being said, alot in my life has changed for the better. I'm learning to do new things all the time, and becoming more comfortable with my craft, so to speak. I used to think that I didn't have any natural ability in art, but my grandmother had always been pretty damn crafty.

I recently had to put up curtains and photos on our bright green focus wall at the family home. I picked the green, which of course, can be very garish. for about 6 months it has been just a blank green wall, no pictures, no window coverings, no nothing. When we finally had everything we needed, I went to work, and put up beautiful espresso curtains, and every picture in the house that was framed. The end result was truly awesome. Hell, maybe my gift is more natural than I thought.

The other epiphany was with prismacolor markers. Since I use them often at work, I've become reacquainted with how to layer them, and also how to wait for them to completely soak into the paper before you add more color.

So when Breena was over last night, I did mini drawings of her and Ru. (These drawings are only about 3-4 inches long in person. V. Cute.

Also working on other people's comics, like 6th Circle, really makes me fall back in love with art. Sometimes I need a little reminder that what I do is special, and other people like what I do. So...

DEAL WITH IT.

Fanart for a deviant

I decided to do some fanart to brush up on my coloring, and was happy with the result. I have alot of other projects to do, but I need some practice. Hopefully the deviant artist I did it for likes it! Gonna work on my Paperlinks article now! <3 YAY!

Helping friends is fun!

It looks like I finally got to do my 6th Circle guest comic!! WOOOOO! It looks like the boys liked it, so maybe I'll be on their "breaker" team more often! Check out what I did here!!

ART FUNK DEFEATED.

OK. Well it appears that I am not dead, nor without skill. There has been so much going on lately, that I've been a bit overwhelmed. I'm finally finished writing my last paper for this semester, so I can put free time back into arting. Amy and I are onto inking the first few pages of Jebediah, which is exciting news! I may post some pictures of that, or just let you go see her blog here!! (I may have to FORCE her to update, so keep in touch! As far as comics go for me, the next pages of XL Gal are being completed, so it looks like that will be up and running soon too. I may have to make a wordpress for that too. Good lord, so much internets. I really should take a basic HTML class. SOOOOO LAAAAAAZY.
That and my pet project, Customer Servitude, is in the works. I'm going to get as many crazy work stories as I can together, and draw them. Many of them will be mine, but I'm going to look for input from other people I work with, have worked with, or barely know! I'm also going to invite other artists to be a part of it, so if you do see this, and are interested, just drop me a line at melloxellos@aol.com!
Here's the first one!

Thank you Ru, for forcing me to do it! More later kids, Mama's back!

Comics with friends; Collaboration talks.

As I have stated before, there are quite a few in progress works I have going at this point.

Kith and Kin, XtraLargeGal (revamping), Jerkwater Drones, little one shots, written stuff, all that.
I had a chance to hang out with my friend Amy, and we sat around for HOURS, playing Red Dead Redemption and drawing panels for a Western comic, back and forth. The concept is actually pretty damn amazing. We hammered out quite a few pages worth, and it's going to be something we will put together soon! I even did a decent drawing of Colienne, (Colleen variation of Amy's) the main female.

More work? SOUNDS GREAT. I'M JUST SO HAPPY TO DO MORE. MORE MORE MORE.

WOO. It's been a while!

SO MUCH. I'm still slowly gathering Wondercon images and info for my article on PL. Also, LOS ANGELES. More accurately, Ontario, La Puente, and Claremont. But hell, it was fun. I did some doots while I was there, but it was nice to have a vacation from the internet and drawing, to be honest. It made me want to come home and produce some quality work.

I'll do a detailed thing about that later, but for now, the LONG awaited KANE LYNCH, DISNEY PRINCE.

First, let's look at Kane. This attractive, talented fella, who I thought really could be a Disney prince.

Just LOOK AT HIM. HOW CUTE IS HE!!!!??

I said at Wonder-Con that I would do a drawing of this. SO. I DID.

Check him out at kanelynch.com!
